FOR HOMEOWNERS

Residential stump grinding.

Got an ugly stump in your yard? We make it disappear. Garden State Grind Co. is the crew North Jersey homeowners call when they want one specific stump (or twenty) gone — without hiring a full tree service or paying tree-removal prices.

Single & multi-stump grinding

Whether it's one stump in the front yard or a dozen scattered through the property, we grind each one 4–6 inches below grade so you can mow, plant, or sod right over it.

Root flare & surface root grinding

Annoying surface roots that snag mower blades or trip kids? We grind the visible root flare smooth so the area blends back into your lawn.

Clean rake-out & site prep

Every job ends with a rake-out. We level the grindings, clean off your patio or walkway, and leave the work area neat enough to seed the next morning.

Mulch removal (optional)

Want the grindings gone? We haul them off for a small add-on fee. Want free mulch for your beds? We'll leave a tidy pile right where you want it.

Garden bed & landscape prep

Opening up a new garden bed, putting in a patio, or laying sod? We grind deeper on request so your contractor or landscaper has clean ground to work with.

Tight-access yards

Narrow gates, fenced backyards, raised decks — we run compact machines that fit through a 36" gate. If a wheelbarrow can get there, so can we.

Homeowner FAQ

How much does it cost?

Most single residential stumps fall between $125 and $300 depending on diameter, wood type, and access. We give flat-rate quotes by photo — no in-person estimates, no surprises.

Do you remove the wood chips?

Your call. We can leave the grindings as free mulch (most customers do — it's great for beds), or we can haul them off for a small fee.

How deep do you grind?

Standard depth is 4–6 inches below grade, which is enough for grass, sod, and most plantings. If you're putting in a patio or paving, ask for a deeper grind.

Will my lawn be torn up?

Our machines are designed for residential lawns. There may be light tire tracks if the ground is soft, but we don't dig, trench, or leave craters.

How soon can you come out?

Most residential jobs are scheduled within the week. During spring and fall peak season, sometimes the next week. We'll give you the earliest date when we quote.
